Solara
The 5-Million-Tree Interface: how the right pixels can fight global warming.
The Challenge: Designing a complex ecosystem from scratch. I had to bridge physics, engineering, and finance in an industry with virtually no UX benchmarks.
The Mission: Accelerating solar adoption to combat global warming and empower economies in developing nations.
The Product: A solar proposal tool that slashes quote times from 5 days to just 5 minutes, integrating seamless system financing.

Solar Proposal Tool v1.0
The first version of the Proposal Tool proved that the idea of a fast solar quoting tool worked, was attractive, and validated the business model. However, it had many areas for improvement.
User Research Verbatim“What’s the difference between this and an Excel calculator?”
“...too many steps and hidden features…”
“I had never been able to generate a quote this fast…”
It was time to bring together everything learned, take the best parts, and work on a new iteration, so this was my plan:

Proposal Tool v1.5
My first decision was to secure quick wins while I dove into the complex world of solar energy. I focused on the fundamentals, refining the interface and conducting research while partnering with engineering to build a stable technical foundation. Why? because I wanted immediate impact while also understanding the project and the business. Execution + Strategy.
This phase brought immediate clarity and resolved our most critical issues, but for me, it was only the necessary baseline. With those lessons learned, I was finally ready to move beyond optimization and start truly innovating:

No-steps UI: Proposal Tool 2.0
After understanding the industry, the business, and empathizing with the user with diverse design research frameworks and artifacts, it came the true redesign.
The layout and interface, based on the mental model of our users, defined the information architecture that brought the new layout to life. My goal was to ensure that all actions could occur from a single screen, without steps and without a learning curve, creating a self-explanatory and predictable interface.
Usability Testing Verbatim"It feels like magic..."
"Initially i feel like everything was taken away, but it's there just when I need it..."
"The tool reads my mind..."
When the user finished quoting, with just one click they had a presentation of the proposal ready to download as a PDF or share via a link and view on any device.
This led to the next step:

The Wizard: “Solar is for everyone”
Imagine you run a company and receive a solar system quote, but you have no technical knowledge. You would need to hire a solar expert consultant to help you decipher it, understand whether it makes sense for you, answer your questions, and share it with colleagues and decision-makers.
That was the Wizard. As a client, you received your proposal with financing options, everything explained by Lara, our AI Agent, who could clarify anything from how a solar panel works to a 25-year financial projection.
User Verbatim After 1 Month Release“Before, my sales would go cold. Now I generate the quote, present it, and the client resolves their questions on their own…”
“I no longer have to constantly reach out to the sales team to ask about things I don’t understand…”
“I generate it from my computer and my clients view it on their phones; we save a lot of meetings…”
And what came next? What was the evolution of this?

14 millions
Once the user inputs their energy consumption data profile (just uploading an electric bill) we provide all the viable financing plans available, so...
The “obvious/natural” evolution of this interface would have been like, “let’s give them full control and show them all of the options”...

There is no need to explain why it is a bad idea (in addition to being a terrible interface) to show the user all the possible scenarios available:

Humans may not have the powers of Doctor Strange, but we have the power of interface design to achieve the same.
Additionally, user research showed us that the more options we provided, the longer it took for the solar contractors and their client to make a decision.
What is the middle ground? How do we ensure that our advanced clients feel completely in control while also allowing beginners to receive their proposal in minutes? let me show you...

1-clic Solar Presentation
And finally, since you had your quote ready, you just press a button and you have a beautiful presentation that you can view in English, Spanish, PDF, or share to your smartphone with a URL.
Through empathy, observation, and iteration, we understood that as a client, making a decision is a collective performance that should be socialized and supported by great technology and good design:

The 5-Million-Trees outcome
- Today the Proposal Tool generates about 3,5 M USD monthly in potential Solar Deals.
- It is the only tool of its kind in the industry and worldwide: it generates accurate quotes in minutes, delivers a personalized presentation, and includes a Solar AI to support the client.
- It features a multidimensional, non-static, step-free interface with virtually zero learning curve.
- We reduced a process that required five human specialists working for five days to a single non-expert completing it in five minutes, saving thousands of hours of manual work.
- As of February 2026, the projects made with Solara are equivalent to:
- Planting 5 millions of trees
- Preventing 693 million kilometers driven from emitting CO₂ to the our planet
Kigo
Parking in the city with the worst traffic in the world with 3 taps: product design for accessing everywhere.
Kigo is a digital parking and access management company that powers parking meters, shopping centers, residential complexes, events, universities and other key points of interest, simplifying how people park, pay and access the spaces they use every day.
But why this new layout?
Just because the designer says so?
After a discovery process mapping the user journey and the jobs to be done, we could focus on our users’ needs and mental model.
- 1Driver
- 2Availability (space, time, utility)
- 3Safety (location, distance)
- 4Cost (money, payment)
Every element of the interface now maps back to the user’s mental model and the information architecture.

My first job was as a frontend developer, so I’m skilled at working 1:1 with engineering. I sit at the intersection of design and engineering, which gives me a broad understanding of technology, its limits and its capabilities.
